Webinar: NYC Young Women’s Advisory Council
October 18, 2016 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pmFree
On Tuesday, October 18th from 3-4:30 EST/ 12-1:30 PST, Girls for Gender Equity (GGE) will host a webinar to share best practices when working in partnership with local government, philanthropy, and community partners for the groundbreaking NYC Young Women’s Initiative.
This webinar will focus primarily on the creation and implementation of the Young Women’s Advisory Council. Through a participatory governance model, young women of color ages 12-25 have been involved in every phase of the initiative.
During the webinar, GGE will launch a report highlighting the methodology used to advance the initiative and young people’s participation through an intersectional feminist lens. In addition, GGE will launch the “Building Power NYC Map.” A pilot tool used to map the services available to cis and trans young women and girls and gender-nonconforming youth in New York City. All information shared was self-reported by agencies. These findings reflect the 80 organizations that completed the mapping survey and the 197 locations that participated in YWI.
Share with youth leaders and organizations working to liberate young women of color.
The intended audience for this webinar includes and is not limited to: community advocates, youth, service providers, government staff, elected officials, and philanthropists.
