January:

WNBA All-Star Teresa Weatherspoon, of the New York Liberty, led a basketball clinic for GGE’s girls.

April:

GGE’s 12-and-under and 10-and-under became 2002 Police Athletic League Brooklyn Borough Champions being the only all girls teams in Brooklyn.

GGE held its first annual Awards Ceremony, featuring 16 coaches and parents playing an exhibition basketball game against each other.

August:

GGE’s’ “Go Girl Go” groups, twelve-week health-risk workshops for 9-14 year old girls, created by the Women’s Sports Foundation, were run in P.S. 56, 305 and I.S. 323.

GGE girls attended the Women’s Sports Foundation (WSF) Sports Symposium. GGE girls were photographed with Becky Hammon.

GGE is chosen as an Honorary Guest at WSF’s Annual Salute to Women in Sports. Leadership winners and attendees from GGE included Brittany Harris, Shandae Walker, Kayla Jones, and Nya Green had the opportunity to be photographed with Lisa Leslie.
