October:
GGE hosted its first Girls’ Empowerment Day during domestic violence month for girls at DWA FANM (Women’s Rights), a community based Haitian Women’s Rights organization.
To ensure that Title IX (of the Educational Amendments of 1972) reaches the African-American and Caribbean girls, within our target communities, GGE developed a task force of organizations, parents, teachers, girls and community members to organize and educate Bedford Stuyvesant and Brownsville residents.
November:
GGE starts distributing a quarterly newsletter called “Our Girls’ Time,” which teaches the community how to nurture the optimal physical, emotional, and psychological health of our girls.
